What is Blue Ridge Survivor?

Survivor, made by fans

Blue Ridge Survivor is a live reality game: a full season of Survivor, played in person by everyday people. Castaways split into tribes, battle in challenges, scheme around camp and vote each other out by torchlight until one is crowned Sole Survivor and takes home the cash.

Creator and host Logan Pardue designs the game, runs it with a volunteer crew of friends, then edits every minute into full episodes you can watch free on YouTube.

How the game works

From Night Zero to Sole Survivor

Every season follows the same basic structure, with new twists each time.

  1. Milepost0

    Night Zero

The castaways arrive, size each other up and compete in an opening challenge that can hand someone an early edge.

  2. Milepost1

    Tribes

Players split into tribes, each with its own buff color and camp: the Black Bears and Cardinals in Season 1, Azurite and Malachite in Gold River, Ichabod and Jekyll in Cape Fear.

  3. Milepost2

    Challenges

Reward challenges win food and comfort. Immunity challenges win safety. Expect puzzles, balance, endurance and trivia.

  4. Milepost3

    Twists

Exile Island, hidden immunity idols, Redemption Island, mining excursions and tribe swaps have all shown up so far.

  5. Milepost4

    Tribal Council

The losing tribe votes someone out by torchlight. Their torch is snuffed, and the tribe has spoken.

  6. Milepost5

    The Merge

The tribes become one under a new name and buff, like the Honey Bees in Season 1 and Rhodolite in Gold River, and it's every castaway for themselves. Players voted out from here on start forming the jury.

  7. Milepost6

    Final Tribal

The finalists face the people they voted out. They plead their case, and the jury votes.

  8. Milepost7

    Sole Survivor

One player outwits, outplays and outlasts everyone else, and takes home the title and the cash prize.

“The tribe has spoken.”

Casting

Got what it takes?

Blue Ridge Survivor is cast from its community. When applications open for a new season, they're announced in the Facebook group.

  • A long weekend away, with tribes, camps and rations
  • Challenges, twists and tribal councils run by a dedicated crew
  • No experience needed: plenty of castaways arrive never having played a live game
  • Players have traveled from as far as Florida, Massachusetts and Vancouver, Canada

Good questions

Is this the real Survivor?

No. Blue Ridge Survivor is a passion project made by fans and not run for profit, inspired by CBS's Survivor. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by CBS or the official show.

What's a live reality game?

An LRG is a reality competition format played in person by regular people instead of on TV. There's a whole community of them around the country, and many castaways play more than one.

Where is it played?

In North Carolina. Season 1 was played along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Gold River at a campground in Marion, and Cape Fear in Greensboro.

How long does a game last?

About a long weekend. Season 1 ran two days and three nights.

Is there a prize?

Yes, real cash. The first Sole Survivor won $1,200.

Do I need to be a Survivor superfan?

Knowing the basics helps, but plenty of castaways arrive having never played a live game. What matters is that you're up for the challenge and the people.

Where can I watch?

Every season is free on the Blue Ridge Survivor YouTube channel, and right here in the episode guide.

Behind the scenes
